Survey reveals growing influence of EU Tyre Label

The EU Tire Label has an increasing influence on the purchasing decisions of European fleets. This is a key result of a recent survey commissioned by tyre manufacturer Goodyear involving truck fleet operators in five European countries. The survey, involving around 500 fleets in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain, covered four main areas of interest:

The impact of the EU tyre label

The selection criteria for tyre purchasing

The economic environment

Winter tyre legislation

The results show the importance of labelling, with just over half of the fleets (54%) saying that it influences their tyre choice and two thirds (66%) putting fuel efficiency as the most important criterion on the label. The significance of mileage on purchasing decisions is underlined by 86 per cent wishing to see wear-related data added to the Label.

The survey, when compared with a previous one carried out in 2011, further shows that operators are more aware not only of the importance of the label but also its value in terms of helping them make the best informed tyre choice.
