Michelin CrossClimate tyres offer new safety benefits and sizes to suit 4x4s and SUVs

With an increasing demand for all-season tyres, combined with the sustained growth in the 4×4 segment, Michelin has updated its award-winning CrossClimate range to offer even more benefits and sizes.

The new Michelin CrossClimate+ has been designed to deliver improved through-life performance in snow compared to its predecessor, while the CrossClimate SUV is now available in sizes to accommodate a wide range of SUVs and 4x4s.

While all-season tyres combine the characteristics of a summer and winter tyre to offer drivers better control and performance throughout the year, the solution is built on compromise. However, as an all-weather tyre, the Michelin CrossClimate has the distinction of being the world’s “first summer tyre to achieve 3PMSF winter accreditation”, which means it is a summer tyre with winter tyre capabilities.

Since its launch, the CrossClimate has stormed the motoring world and swept up a host of awards. Its commercial success and reputation has been boosted by the fleet contracts it has achieved, including British Gas, which operates a 13,000-strong van fleet and Addison Lee, the UK’s largest passenger car fleet.

The SUV version of the CrossClimate combines a unique V-shaped tread pattern with new 3D self-locking sipes, just like the counterpart for cars. Along with its innovative bevel-edged tread blocks with higher performing sipes, these features help to optimise braking and traction in snow.

This tyre is gaining traction in the UK tyre market, because while it offers solid performance in the winter, it is also designed to deliver the benefits of a summer tyre for dry or wet braking, total mileage and energy efficiency, making it a very good match for the moderate, although unpredictable weather experienced across the country.

For motorist who plan on driving abroad, it is also reassuring to know that the CrossClimate has obtained the Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) approval. This means it is legal in countries which experience prolonged periods of extreme weather and therefore winter tyres are mandatory at clearly defined times of the year.
