Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo2, the brand’s UHP flagship is now available for drivers of high-performance, dynamic sports utility (SUV) and sports activity vehicles (SAV).
Especially designed to meet the requirements of this popular vehicle category, the tyres combine sport-dynamic driving performance with suspension comfort, low rolling noise and limited rolling resistance. The safety features, wet grip for example, have also been specially tuned to the demands of high-performance premium SUVs like the BMW X5, which already come with the tyres as their original equipment.
In an independent tyre test of German automobile trade magazine “Gute Fahrt” (03/2014 Edition) the relevant criteria of ten current summer tyres for SUVs in size 235/55 R 17 were compared. The new Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 SUV not only received the overall best mark from the experts including purchase recommendation, but was also the only tyre in the test that secured the best mark in the safety-relevant wetness tests category (wet braking, wet handling, longitudinal and diagonal aquaplaning). A “very good” was also awarded for very high comfort and particularly low rolling noise.
The sophisticated technology of the Ventus S1 evo2 SUV with its multiple tread radius and double-layer rayon carcass provides maximum tread contact under all conditions. The tyre not only impresses with outstanding aquaplaning behaviour but also with optimum road contact for perfect balance under both wet and dry conditions. Driving control and safety at high speeds are also improved significantly. The innovative DTM inspired 3-layer block design, with its special staircase arrangement of the outer rib blocks, ensures an evenly gripping tyre contact area even as tyre wear progresses thereby guaranteeing very good traction performance throughout the entire lifetime of the tyre.
A state-of-the-art high-grip styrene-polymer-silica mixture not only enables optimised wet grip, but also reduced rolling resistance with more environmental compatibility. Thanks to reduced wear and improved heat-ageing resistance, it also contributes to higher mileage and thereby to the economy of the tyre. The refined cooling system of the high-performance tyre also enables faster heat discharge for stable handling features and an overall longer tyre lifetime. The Ventus S1 evo2 SUV will be available in stores as of spring 2014 in 30 sizes from 17 to 22 inches of the 30 to 60 series and tread widths from 225 to 315.
