Formula One: Williams equal record for fastest pit stop

The Williams Formula One team equalled the record for the sport's fastest pit stop in Sunday's European Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The British outfit changed the tyres on Brazilian Felipe Massa's car in 1.92 seconds, equaling the previous best set by the Red Bull team at the 2013 United States Grand Prix, according to statistics gathered for the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award.

Red Bull turned around Australian Mark Webber in 1.923 seconds at the American race, when pit-stop timings were logged to thousandths of a second.

Williams' speed in the pits has been outstanding this year and they have been the fastest team at every race, following a deliberate plan to improve their form.

"I was surprised in the first race that we had such a quick pit-stop," said Massa.

"We even lost time because it was quicker than you expected, but then I was ready to have a good one, because the team is doing such a good job."
